Sustainability Commitment
At Boat Harbour Jetty B&B our goal is to minimise our environmental impact by focusing on sustainability in our practices and development.
A few of the initiatives that we have implemented to date include:
- 8 kW solar system and certified Carbon Neutral program with our energy supplier
- Environmentally friendly cleaning products
- Dedicated recycling program
- Refillable organic toiletries for use during your stay
- LED lighting inside and out
- Energy efficient infra-red bathroom heating – warms the body not the room
- Free EV charging facilities onsite
- Shop local, sourcing 90% of our products right here in Yarram
- Our gardens are planted with draught resistant, coastal Australian natives – keep an eye out for birdlife enjoying the sanctuary on offer.
We are proud to also commit to decarbonise our operations. With the support of ERC Australia we are pleased to share with you our emissions reduction plan.
We invite you to join us on our sustainability journey - ways you can help include:
- Turning off lights, heating/cooling and the television when you venture out.
- Hang up towels to dry so they can be reused towels for short stays
- Please utilise our twin bin system – just place recyclables in one side and waste in the other
- Consider water usage and avoid excess long showers
- Enjoy native wildlife from a distance – kangaroos, wallabies, wombats & koalas might be used to seeing us from a distance but please don’t try to get too close.
- Drive more cautiously at dusk and dawn to avoid any wildlife on the road.
From property wide initiatives to guest rooms, waste disposal and cleaning, we always encourage guest feedback to ensure we are doing all that we can to be more sustainable and make better informed choices for the environment.
